All Limited Companies (public & private limited) are required to submit year-end annual company accounts to Companies House. These are also known as “statutory accounts”. They are reports that showcase everything your company owns, owes and is owed (balance sheet) as well as your turnover, costs and profitability (profit and loss account) over the financial year.

The following companies are required to file statutory accounts every year after the end accounting (financial) year.
- Public Limited Companies (“PLC”)
- Limited Companies (“Limited”)
- Limited Liability Partnerships (“LLPs”)

As businesses that are registered with Companies House, you can find your company information and accounts filing deadlines on Company House by clicking here. Unlike the Tax year, which runs 6 April to 5 April of the following year, each company has its own “accounting period” depending on when the company was registered on Companies House. The deadline for filing the company year-end accounts is 21 Months after the incorporation date or 9 months after the end of the accounting period. As all limited companies are registered with Companies House, you can find always check your company information, submission deadlines, registered address, directors and shareholder information and other details on Company House.
Responsibilities of a director
Companies are managed by directors who have many administrative duties such as:
- Ensure year-end accounts are filed with Company House
- Ensure CT600 is submitted to HMRC and the corporation tax is paid on time
- File annual Confirmation Statements
- Register with HMRC for Self-Assessment (as a director)
- Submit a Self-Assessment Tax Return every year to declare any company dividends
